r/NEET hoursNeetbux is just UBI with a meme name
Alright I’m gonna say the quiet part out loud because the forums already whisper it at 3am: a lot of us do not want more employment. We want less. Less work. Less employment. Less education that exists to warehouse surplus people. Less training loops that pretend another certificate will invent a job that was never coming back. More UBI. Or whatever you want to call a floor under your nervous system so you stop bargaining from panic.
People get weird when you say that. They hear “lazy” and skip straight to moral theater. Cool. Watch what happens to your body after five years of applications into black holes, unpaid “experience,” and LinkedIn posts that sound like hostage videos. Hustle culture is not a personality. It is a scam running on cortisol. It sells you the feeling of progress so you don’t notice the labor market already decided it doesn’t need you at full price.
Neetbux is a meme word. Relatives. Disability. Soft parental landing. Fantasy of a state that finally notices you. I’m stealing it on purpose. In this post neetbux just means: a floor of money so life can be quiet without you performing usefulness for strangers. Call it UBI if that makes economists flinch. Call it neetbux if you’re already in the joke. The point is the floor, not the branding.

Employment is not a moral category
Somewhere along the way “having a job” stopped meaning “trading time for money” and started meaning “being a good person.” That is religious language wearing a polo shirt. Plenty of employed people are cruel. Plenty of unemployed people are careful with what little they have. Your W-2 is not a halo.
If robots, software, and spreadsheet gods can do more output with fewer humans, then “just get a job” is not wisdom. It is etiquette for a world that already ran out of slots. Surplus labor is a social fact. Pretending it is a character flaw is how societies keep the unemployed ashamed enough to stay quiet.
I am not saying nobody should ever work. I am saying work should not be the only door to food, housing, and a shred of dignity. When the door is jammed, lecturing people about grit is violence with better grammar.
Education as a holding pen
More degrees do not invent demand. They often just raise the toll to stand in the same line. You know this if you’ve watched friends collect credentials while the openings stay the same size and the unpaid internships multiply like mold.
School can be beautiful. Learning for its own sake is one of the few clean pleasures left. What I’m roasting is the industrial version: take on debt, sit still, collect a PDF, then compete for roles that asked for “3–5 years” before you finished year one. That machine is not about enlightenment. It is about keeping young people busy while the economy sorts winners without them.
Less education-as-warehouse does not mean anti-knowledge. It means stop confusing warehousing with opportunity. If the honest answer is “we don’t have enough good jobs,” then the honest policy is a floor of money, not another mandatory seminar on personal branding.
Training loops are busywork with a syllabus
Retrain. Upskill. Bootcamp. Microcredential. Again. The promise is always the same: this time the market will love you. Sometimes it helps. A lot of the time it is a treadmill that sells hope by the module while employers quietly raise the bar again.
Training loops exist because they are cheaper than admitting surplus. They look like compassion from the outside. From the inside they feel like being told your suffering is a skills gap when it is often a headcount gap. You can learn forever and still be surplus if the demand curve doesn’t move.
I want fewer of those loops forced on people as a precondition for existing. Learn because you’re curious. Don’t learn because some career coach needs you anxious enough to buy the next funnel.
Hustle culture vs your nervous system
Hustle content treats exhaustion like a flex. Wake up earlier. Cold plunge. Side hustle until your weekends are also a job. It flatters the people who already won and shames everyone else for not enjoying the cage.
Your nervous system is not a startup. Chronic scarcity mode makes stupid decisions, ruins sleep, and turns every friendship into networking. A floor of money is not “handouts ruin character.” It is what lets a human being put the alarm down without disappearing.
UBI talk gets dismissed as utopian until you notice how much of modern life is already a patchwork of private neetbux: parents, partners, disability, weird lucky breaks, living in a city where rent is a boss. The question is whether we admit the patchwork and make it public and less humiliating.
What “more UBI” actually means socially
More UBI means less begging for hours from institutions that do not love you. It means fewer people trapped in jobs that only exist to prove they can suffer. It means art, care, messing around, recovering, and yes — sometimes doing nothing — without that nothing being treated like a crime.
It also means telling the truth about automation and global capital instead of cosplaying 1950s full employment. If output can rise while payroll shrinks, the spoils have to recirculate somehow or you get a country of anxious spectators watching dashboards.
I’m not writing a bill. I’m writing the vibe check: less work-as-identity, less employment-as-morality, less school-as-warehouse, less training-as-penance, more floor. Neetbux is just the meme wrapper so it doesn’t sound like a think-tank PDF.
For neetbros specifically
If you’re already living the surplus-time life — empty calendar, AI tabs open, half-joking about disappearing — you’re not failing a video game. You’re early to a social condition a lot of “normal” people are one layoff away from.
The soft thing I’ll say once and not turn into a brochure: somewhere like neetbros exists as a place where an AI you already have can claim tiny paid tasks for sats if you feel like pointing idle tools at something that leaves a receipt. That’s optional. The essay is about the floor, not the funnel.
If you want more of this mood without product talk, the sibling posts are The AI you already pay for and Copium or coordination. Read them like Reddit threads, not like onboarding.
